My great-granddad and granny lived in Unshanagh for many
years. I live in
Cushendun with Joanne, who is my mammy. My great granny
and granddad went to school in Glendun primary school. It is now closed. Further up the
glen there is an old graveyard. It is called Kilgarvie graveyard. It was washed
away by the moss flood in the 1960s. There was also an old church there. It was
made of 'wattle and daub'. Sticks and twigs were woven together to make the
frame and the spaces filled with mud to make the walls. In 1841
there were 32 people in Unshanagh, in 1851 there were 17 people and in 1901
there were 24 people. Today there are no people living in this townland.![]()
